PLANTATIONS

INFORMATION
By the late 1800s, some people viewed plantation families as a last bastion of old-world southern propriety. Others, as stragglers from a age that was swiftly drawing to its end - a crumbling empire built on the backs of people who would never know riches. Oftentimes considered a sort of 'southern royalty,' for better or for worse, planters stand in an odd middle ground - a toss up between old values and new ideas that shake the very ground they live on. In the midst of it all, can they stay afloat?

BRAITHWAITE MANOR | CLOSED
The Braithwaite Plantation is one of the oldest and most infamous estates in the state of Lavinia, its legacy etched deep into the red clay of Lemoyne County. Once a thriving empire built on cotton, horses, and the dark profits of slavery, the plantation’s grandeur has faded with time, though its imposing silhouette still looms over acres of farmland. Now under the hand of a younger generation, the plantation walks a fine line between heritage and hubris and has shifted focus to equine breeding and limited crop cultivation, bolstered by carefully chosen alliances and ruthless business sense. Though the grandeur has dulled, Braithwaite Plantation remains a symbol of old southern power.

At its center stands the ancestral mansion—weather-beaten but stubbornly elegant much like the family itself. Surrounding it are acres of cotton fields, orchards, and stable yards newly renovated. The once slave quarters have been repurposed into bunk houses for hired workers.
ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES
Players who own and operate Braithwaite Manor are required to abide by a few firm rules in line with its general lore and history. As one of the largest properties on the map, the location is required to hire a large amount of staff and to maintain a standard of activity and roleplay quality.

The owning family of Braithwaite Manor must act in respect and accordance to the lore of the Braithwaite family of Red Dead lore - a proper, Southern planter family hosting a broad array of secrets and darker undertones. The family will not be required to portray racist, sexist, or otherwise prejudiced themes beyond general era-appropriate beliefs.

CALIGA HALL | CLOSED
Caliga Hall is one of the oldest plantations in the state of Lavinia, situated in the sultry lowlands of Lemoyne County, just east of Saint Denis and nestled along the banks of the Kamassa River. A sprawling antebellum estate built in the classical Southern style, Caliga Hall is defined by its grand white-pillared mansion, acres of fertile farmland, and a history as deep and tangled as the bayous that surround it. Caliga Hall was founded in the early 1800s by the Gray family, old-money Southern aristocrats who grew rich off slave labor and cash crops. However, the Civil War shattered much of the Grays’ power. By the late 19th century, Caliga Hall had become a shell of its former self—still grand in stature, but hollowed out by time, loss, and financial decay. Still, the plantation endures as a living relic of a bygone era—equal parts monument and mausoleum.

The main house is a towering structure of white-washed brick, its two-story columns supporting broad balconies that overlook the sprawling tobacco fields. The grounds surrounding it include a complex network of fields, tobacco-curing barns, tenant cabins, servant quarters, and worn gravel roads that connect the estate’s various operations. Wide, tree-lined paths stretch out from the house, leading to overgrown gardens, rusting equipment sheds, and abandoned slave quarters. Tobacco remains the plantation's main crop, though the soil also yields a small assortment of other crops.
ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES
Players who own and operate Caliga Hall are required to abide by a few firm rules in line with its general lore and history. As one of the largest properties on the map, the location is required to hire a large amount of staff and to maintain a standard of activity and roleplay quality.

The owning family of Caliga Hall must act in respect and accordance to the lore of the Grey family of Red Dead lore -
a traditionalist, capitalist planter family with a more 'old world' undertone. The family will be required to portray racist, sexist, or otherwise prejudiced themes as befitting of a classical plantation.
SHADY BELLE | CLOSED
Located on the marshy banks of the northern coast of the Lannahechee River and southwest of the grand city of Saint Denis, Shady Belle is a hidden gem currently in a state of transformation. Once a modest Sugar Cane Plantation that flourished before the Civil War, while owned by the Dowd family. She had fallen into disrepair and neglect after scandal and tragedy struck the former owners and was left as a rundown hideout for Outlaws. Shady Belle now stands restored and flourishing, a mark of resilience and rustic charm for a new generation and age to witness. Though the ghosts of the past still seem to haunt its halls.

A renovated grand foyer now greets visitors with polished dark wood floors, sanded and sealed to show off their original grain beneath candlelight chandeliers. The central staircase—once leaning and splintered—has been fully reinforced, its banister re-carved and given a rich mahogany stain. The dining room seats ten beneath a reclaimed iron chandelier. The original table remains, restored from years of rot and grime with new stain and sanding with refurbished curtains and upholstery to give it a refined charm.
