
PvP RULES
The following page details the rules and guidelines of Lavinia State | Roleplay.
All players are required to familiarize themselves with the writings of the following page; the utilization of ignorance and/or loopholes of any type will not be tolerated during the handling of tickets or reports.
1.0 PVP COMBAT
Player-versus-Player Combat, defined as any action in which two players engage in violence against one another, must be announced via a /cme or a /cmelong.

Only the initial, violent action (e.x. the first gunshot, the first punch, etc.) must be emoted, and only by one party. Any /cme must be written in-scene, and may not be pre-typed.
1.1 | WITNESSING ACTIVE COMBAT
Players who witness the initial /cme, including active combatants, are not required to announce an additional /cme to join combat, flee, or spectate.
1.2 | JOINING ACTIVE COMBAT
Players who were not witness to the initial /cme, are required to announce an additional /cme to join combat, flee, or spectate.
2.0 WARNING SHOTS
Players may issue a Warning Shot before combat in an attempt to frighten or otherwise deter a combat scenario. A /melong detailing the warning shot must be announced before mechanical shots are fired.
3.0 WARNING SHOTS

GENERAL RULES
Players may not log-out, respawn, or otherwise utilize gameplay mechanics with the intention to avoid consequences of player-versus-player combat.

In case of emergency, please utilize the /b command to inform other parties before logging.
6.0 CONSEQUENCE AVOIDANCE
Players may issue a Warning Shot before combat in an attempt to frighten or otherwise deter a combat scenario. A /melong detailing the warning shot must be announced before mechanical shots are fired.
4.0 DOWNED STATE
Players who are Downed (i.e. mechanically killed) are considered to be unconscious. During the Downed State, the character cannot see, hear, smell, speak, or otherwise have awareness of their surrounding until mechanically healed or respawned.

All players sent into the Downed State are required to roleplay injury for a period of 24 hours, and may not initiate PvP content during this time.
7.0 WEAPON RESTRICTIONS
Bolas, explosives, fire arrows, and other forms of advantageous workarounds are not allowed at any time during player-versus-player combat.

Lassos may not be used in active player-versus-player combat, but may be used afterwards to tie, drag, or carry a complying or downed player.
7.1 | SIDEARMS
Players may utilize sidearms (defined as pistols, revolves, knives, or other one-handed weapons) at any time during active combat without limitation.
5.0 FIGHT, FLEE, COMPLY
Players (referred herein as the 'defender') who are met with a potential PvP scenario in which injury, loss of life, or property is threatened by the opposing party (referred herein as the 'aggressor', may choose to:

FIGHT: The defender may initiate PvP Combat themselves.

FLEE: The defender may choose to flee the situation, allowing the aggressor to initiate combat without the use of a /cme.

COMPLY: The defender may choose to comply with demands or otherwise defuse the situation in another way.
Once a choice is initiated, it may not be chanced (e.x. a defender may not pretend to comply to only then open fire on the aggressor).
7.2 | LONGARMS
Longarms (defined as shotguns, bows, rifles, or other two-handed weapons) must be drawn via /me at least one post prior to /cme.

8.0 ROBBERY GUIDELINES
Robbery is the stealing of a player-character's items through threat or brute force. It can be considered a variant of general combat escalation, with the objective set in obtaining items or money from the other party.
8.1 | ROBBERY LIMITATIONS
Players may not engage in more than three robberies per 24-hour period, nor leave the county of the crime for one hour after the encounter.

9.0 ITEM LIMITATIONS
Downed or complying targets may be robbed of inventory contents, via lasso or player compliance. During a robbery, a player may take no more than half of funds and:

1 weapon (Bow, Gun, Knife, etc.)

3 trinkets (Jewelry, Deeds, etc.)

3 papers (telegrams, books, etc.)

During robbery, a player may ask to see the contents of a wagon or saddlebag - failing to properly report what is inside via a /do or /me is considered a form of powergaming.
10.0 IMPRISONMENT GUIDELINES
Imprisonment is the kidnapping, holding, or otherwise restraining of a player-character, either through threat or as a consequence of combat.

Players may be held for no longer than four hours if imprisoned by a non-LEO (law-enforcement officer), without express out-of-character consent. Imprisoned parties must be roleplayed with for the duration of their imprisonment - any prisoner left alone for more than thirty minutes is automatically freed.
IMPRISONMENT RULES

11.0 CK GUIDELINES
Character Kills (CKs) are the permanent death of a character. Players reserve the right to CK their character at any time, within the bounds of Limited Themes - additionally, players may submit CK Requests via the community Discord to force a CK with narrative reasoning.
11.1 | CK REQUESTS
With valid in-character escalation of conflict, players may request the right to character-kill another player's character. To ensure that quality is maintained, a request must be prefaced by at least one of the following roleplay themes:

​An active threat to life, safety, or the well-being of family.

A long-standing, active feud which poses a risk to livelihood.

A betrayal by a close personal friend, family, or ally.

Requesting parties will be required to submit proof of roleplay and escalation. The other player will be informed of the CK Request, to offer a fair playing field.
At the next valid PvP encounter of the two characters, the first downed is susceptible to a CK - the surviving party must emote the killing blow to consider the CK completed.
11.2 | DEAD OR ALIVE BOUNTIES
Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) may request that a bounty be escalated to Dead or Alive (DoA), effectively creating a multi-person CK Request.
When active, DoA Bounties may be claimed by any active LEO or Bounty Hunter (BH), and abide by the rules of CK Requests.
